Question 1

What does Oni Wallet do?

Accepted Answer

Oni Wallet is a self-custody crypto wallet. Create a wallet or import your recovery phrase to manage your assets in one place.

Question 2

Do you hold my crypto?

Accepted Answer

No. Oni Wallet never holds your funds or your recovery phrase. Your keys are made and used in your browser, and you sign every transaction yourself.

Question 3

What happens on a send?

Accepted Answer

You review the destination and amount before approving a transfer. Confirmed transactions are recorded on the selected network.

Question 4

Which assets can I send?

Accepted Answer

Supported assets and networks appear in the wallet after you create or import a wallet.

Question 5

Can I import an existing wallet?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Import an Oni Wallet recovery file automatically, or enter your 12-word phrase manually and select a network.

Question 6

Does Oni Wallet store my recovery phrase?

Accepted Answer

No. The phrase is used in your browser and is never sent to Oni Wallet servers. If you turn on device lock, an encrypted copy stays in your browser behind your password. Anyone with the phrase can access the wallet, so keep it secure.

Question 7

Why do I sign an agreement first?

Accepted Answer

Before you create or load a wallet you sign a short user agreement by typing your name. It says that you hold the keys and carry the risk. We keep your name, the time, the version, a fingerprint of the text and a record number. Your wallet address is not part of that record.
